Kid Created Spider Halloween Craft!

In addition to decorating the house for Halloween this weekend, my little one had an idea for a holiday craft. She set out to make a spider to add to our growing Halloween decoration collection, and was very happy with her finished product.. She requested the following materials and went to work on creating her first original Halloween Spider craft.

Materials:

A small plastic water bottle cap
A medium plastic juice bottle cap
Black pipe cleaner
Googly eyes
Black paint
A bread bag fastener for the fangs
Hot glue gun for use by supervising adult only/ or strong bonding glue

Step 1: She painted both of the bottle caps black and allowed to dry

Step 2: She cut the pipe cleaner into eight even pieces to be used for the legs

Step 3: With the open side face up, I dispensed the hot glue as she attached each leg inside of the small bottle cap (four on each side of cap)

Hold pipe cleaner in place for a few seconds to make sure it has bonded to the cap. Let cap dry while open side remains up.

Step 4: Once the pipe cleaners were securely set, she adjusted the legs to her liking and glued the bread fastener to the legs so only the tips of the fastener would show when the final product was flipped over. (see photos)

Step 5: She glued the googly eyes in place on the flat side of small cap.

Step 6: Once she was sure that everything was dry and secure on the smaller cap, I assisted her by hot gluing the two caps together. (hold caps together until glue sets/dries)

Step 7: Once all of the glue has dried thoroughly, adjust the legs to your liking, flip over, and you have a new decoration to add to your collection.

*Although this is a kid created craft, for kids, adult supervision and assistance is highly recommended.

*The supervising adult should handle all steps requiring the use of a hot glue gun.

*The orange bottle cap was only used to hold googly eyes until she needed them.
